An exclusive expedition which offers surprising explorations in the most beautiful sandsea of Libya, the Erg Ubari and the black mountains of the Hamadah al Hamrah of Libya.
This journey is specially composed for travellers who love and search the Authentity apart from the usual scheduled touristic highways and monuments. It offers an intense experience of the width, silence and the breathtaking beauty of the Sahara and its dunes and the mysterious black mountains with its hidden treasures.
Not only to discover unknown lakes amidst of the Ubari Sandsea but also completely unknown, fascinating rockcarvings dating back to 10'000 years in the black mountains are top highlights of this programme.
Every day there are plenty of opportunities for a few hours walking. And - what would the Sahara be without a camelride? On the 9th day of the journey you will enjoy a wonderful camelride towards your night camp. Persons, who do not love camelriding are invited to walk with the group or they might ask for a lift to the camp by one of the supporting vehicles. The last desert night you spend in our exclusive and comfortable fix tented camp amidst the dunes
.
Your accompanying guides/drivers are Original Libyan Tuaregs grown up in the Fezzan and who know the travel area as well as anyone can. In the desert all meals are cooked for you and evenings are spent round campfires under a starry sky. You will never camp within sight of other people and only in pristine countryside. In the cities you stay in three star hotels and the delicious meals are served in good quality restaurants.
Day 1
Arrive in Tripoli not later than 3 p.m. Evening flight to Sebha, in the heart of the Sahara. Welcome by your guide and drivers. After a short jeep drive into the dunes you reach your first night camp in the desert. Tent.
Day 2
Fantastic dunedrive to two unknown lakes apart from the touristic pathes. Evening in the area of your guide and drivers homeland, a stunning wadi with lovely soft formed dunes, some bushes and plants, here and there a palmtree. With a little bit of luck, you even might see some fenneks. Tent.
Day 3
Along the Zellaf palmtrees you head towards Idri. After resupply of water and food the journey leads you towards the black mountain. You pass several abandoned oasis, some wells, and surely you will meet herds of camels and goats and their Tuareg shepherd. Overnight in the wilderness, surrounded by a fantastic scenery. Tent.
Day 4 + 5
Mainly trekking inside the black mountains and discovering prehistoric rockcarvings dating back to the same age of those of Wadi Mathandoush. Tent.
Day 6
By jeep you cross a breathtaking wild landscape till a significant well and turn towards east into the high dunes. Night camp near a dominating mountain among the dunes.
Day 7 + 8
Two days continuous succession of dunes and huge flat areas, where you stop from time to time to have nice walks. Unique sunsets and camping among the dunes.
Day 9
Still in the dunes, you reach a further, untouched and touristically completely unknown lake. Its beauty superceeds those of Umm al Maa. Then you head to a dry lake where the camels and their guide take you on a nice 2-3 hours walk. On the camelback you might enjoy the marvellous landscape till your comfortable fix tented camp where a bed and a warm shower are expecting you.
Day 10
Today we are back on the touristic highway. A wonderful dunedrive brings you to the famous and picturesque lakes Mandara, Umm al Maa, Mafù and Gabroun, a must on a Libyan desert trip. During lunchtime there are opportunities for a swim and/or a nice walk. Then you head towards Sebha to catch the evening flight to Tripoli. Hotel B&B.
Day 11
Possibly free time in Tripoli or optionally visit the National Museum with its rich collection of artefacts before transfer to the airport and fly home
